I have tried hard to write my own “About” page before I write this article. Somehow, I am not satisfied. It includes information about me but doesn’t excited or inspire. Therefore I decided to make a deep investigation and take a look at good examples in the web. I have summarized the points which are valuable for me. Hope you enjoy!
After the landing homepage, the first link we need to check is generally “About” page. We could see the proof of these also in metrics in Google Analitics visitor report. If this page is boring or doesn’t make a sensation page will be exited immediatly.
As an old saying mentions “We never have a second chance for first impression”. This “About” page is about introducing ourselves, impress visitors and persuade them to get into action. We need to present our talents and services in a way that represents value for your clients. The most difficult part is not be seen as an arrogant jackass while telling stories about yourself. In order to deal with it you could use “Reference” method. Complimentary sentences form your former customers about your business could be impressive.
Parts need to be included
- Short autobiography, self story
- Characteristics that makes us different
- Points that we would deliver value
Questions to be answered
- Who am I?
- What do I do for a living?
- How can I help?
- What am I working on? What are my goals?
- What should people expect by working with me?
Points we need to consider while writing
- Know your target customer and who are you talking to.
- Don’t just give information, consider that people are reading so create a story.
- If possible, personalize and tell about your perspective on life.
- Exhibit yourself with a photo and prove that you are real in this digital world.
- Explain how you will assist.
- Tell them stories about your former clients and how you helped them.
- Let them know what kind of feeling is working with you by the help of your references.
- Place contact box and contact information to get in touch with you when they decide.
- Write like you are talking and develop your unique language.
- Read it loud and revise in time.
I will suggest you to write as short as possible considering above points. We don’t want to make anyone bored. We want visitors to get curious about you to ask for more.
Writing an “About Page” is may be one of the most challenging parts in content writing. It will take time and effort. But be sure that if you refine and revise it to create the best form., It will give you the return exceedingly.
